Stubbington 10K 2018

Well done to Lisa and Cherry for representing the WWRR club on Sunday (14th January)
A reviewer said that competitors received a “good quality long sleeve t-shirt
(useful for chilly winter running!)
Cherry did very well in her age group - there were 7 runners in the group, and Cherry finished in 2nd place, but only 26 seconds behind the first place.

the club Cross Country Competition, January 2018

The WWRR Cross Country event takes places every January.
This 5 mile run is open to any runners, and there was a wonderful turnout on Sunday (7th January) with around 50 runners in total.
Some were new to running, having perhaps done a few parkruns, but never any kind of club event before.
Many people who came along donated to the charity Mind, in recognition of RED (run-every-day) January. Thanks everyone for your generosity - £129 was collected!

This is also a nominated time competition for WWRR members, with a prize for whoever runs the closest actual time to the time they predicted before the start of the race.
On Sunday six WWRRs rose to this challenge. Congratulations to new member Andy Dorning for winning this year's cross-country "nominated time" prize.
Here are the results:-

Name Nom. time Act. time Difference Position
Andy 49.00 50.01 1.01 1
Matt 40.00 42.22 2.22 2
Cherry 58.00 60.32 2.32 3

Club Cross Country and Nominated Time Event

Our club XC is coming up this Sunday 7th January 2018.
At the moment, the weather looks reasonable but expect the ground to show the effects of all the rain we have been having - make sure your shoes are done up well!
WWRRs should come prepared to nominate your time (last year's are still on our website).
The idea is to predict your time over the 5 mile course and then run that time without the aid of a watch etc. - it's an opportunity for slower runners to win!
Other runners are welcome to join us too just for fun (but they will not be timed).
It's 5 hilly miles with some mud.
Meet at Freshwater Bay Car Park no later than 10.45 am for a 11.00 am start.
